Dana Abernathy, CMB, has a passion for "never ending self-improvement", both personally and professionally. She is honored to become the State Relations Committee Co-Chair for the MBA State & Local Programs.

Read more on what Dana has to say on being named Committee Co-Chair:

What purpose does the committee serve?

Dana:  The State Relations is a regulatory focused committee that meets quarterly to share information on both a national and state level, the impact of proposed legislation and possibly elections.  It also serves as a way for the MBA to connect with the state MBA leadership teams to hear what is happening in their community and to educate how the MBA can support state associations and their members.

How did you became involved with the state MBA's?

Dana:  I have loved being involved with the state MBA's from the time I joined the industry in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  My interest grew when I moved to Tennessee and I had the opportunity to work on various state and national committees.  It's my passion to support our industry!

What goals do you have as Committee Co-Chair?

Dana:  This is a 2 year term, I am looking forward to getting to know the leadership in other states, share ideas and meet new people.  My goal is to make a difference via new insight, creative ideas and bringing people together.

The MBA plays an important role in our livelihood and the people at MBA are personally invested in our industry's success.  I encourage everyone to become a member of MAA (Mortgage Action Alliance).  It's FREE and you don't need to be an MBA member.  It's the grass roots arm of the MBA and you can participate by simply clicking a link and have a letter sent to your state or national legislator, depending on the issue. And, if anyone is interested in becoming a CMB….I would welcome a conversation to help guide them!
